The Music Program at MacEwan University is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a new full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate’s principal duties will be to teach recording and recording production, and to oversee all aspects of our recording program. Based on experience and credential, the successful candidate may also be asked to teach courses in music career management and music technology, as well as other courses in the music program.
The Music program is situated within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications of MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta and is part of the city’s vibrant arts community. The Bachelor of Music degree builds on MacEwan’s reputation as one of the finest music schools in Canada, and is offered concurrently with MacEwan’s acclaimed two-year Music Diploma program.
Applicants must have a strong interest in teaching as a career priority. Research is also essential and will form part of the negotiated workload for the successful candidate. The ability to work effectively in a collegial environment is also considered very important. While primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be in the degree program, diploma courses may also be included.
The successful candidate must have extensive professional experience as a recording engineer and producer, experience teaching at the post-secondary level, and possess a graduate degree. Commensurate professional experience may be considered.
This position offers a full benefit package and will commence around July 1, 2014 based on program need and the successful candidate’s availability.
