MUSIC INSTRUCTOR – VOICE/CHORAL (SESSIONAL FULL-TIME)

The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Direct the Chamber Choir
• Teach private voice lessons within a variety of vocal styles (e.g. classical, musical theatre, contemporary)
• Depending on skills and experience teach the 'Singing for the Stage' course within the Theatre Performance and Creation program-
• Teach several core music courses in areas such as Aural Skills, History or Theory
• Be involved with departmental activities such as department meetings, committee work, academic advising, auditions, recruitment, faculty performances, etc.
The Music Program is part of RDC's Performing Arts Department which also includes programs in Theatre and Motion Picture Arts. Music offers a one-year Preparatory program and a two-year Diploma. The program has established two-year block transfer arrangements with several Alberta universities, thereby allowing students to pursue a four-year degree. Other graduates pursue careers in the music business as well as private teaching and performing. RDC students experience a high quality education enhanced by smaller class sizes, and personalized learning.
The Department provides a supportive atmosphere for innovation in scholarship, curriculum delivery, and student engagement. Additionally, the Department hosts a full season of music, theatre, and film events featuring students, faculty, and guests. Professional development activities are supported by both the Department and the College's Professional Development program.

Qualifications:
• MMus degree or equivalent required
• Experience as a choral director spanning a variety of styles
• Experience as a vocal instructor
• Active voice performer
Preferred Qualifications:
• PhD., DMA, or DMus degree or equivalent preferred
• Post-secondary teaching experience preferred
