The Faculty of Visual Art + Material Practice at Emily Carr University of Art + Design invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to teach illustrative practices within the Bachelor of Fine Arts Illustration major.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree (Masters) or equivalent, a minimum of two years related post-secondary teaching experience; an active practice; knowledge of historical contexts and contemporary issues concerning illustration; and will demonstrate an interest in theories and discourses that bridge contemporary art, applied arts and design.

Letters of application should address the candidate’s expertise in the areas of teaching, pedagogical philosophy, current research, professional work and community service. The applicant should include a cover letter, current curriculum vitae and supporting material including images of recent work (maximum 20) presented as a Powerpoint or PDF file, and copies of catalogues and reviews (to a maximum of 5 each). Please provide a checklist of submitted material and note that any submitted materials will not be returned. Submissions should include the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three persons who can be contacted for a reference. Please indicate in your cover letter where you saw this posting. Electronic submission of application is preferred.
