Applications are invited for the position of Chair, Department of Music Education, in the Don Wright Faculty of Music at Western University. More information can be found on the Don Wright Faculty of Music website at: http://www.music.uwo.ca/ .
The appointment as Department Chair will be for a five-year term starting July 1, 2014. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with tenure. A record of administrative experience, and a strong record of achievement in teaching are essential. A strong and established research profile is also required. It is expected that the new Chair will demonstrate professional leadership nationally and internationally. The candidate will be part of a department whose faculty members conduct research across technological, philosophical, sociological, psychological, and pedagogical disciplines. Knowledge of these disciplines with a concentration in one or more disciplines would enable the faculty to expand from a curricular and research perspective. Interdisciplinary experiences would be most welcomed. In addition to administrative duties, the new Chair will teach music education courses in his/her area of specialty, while also contributing to graduate supervision.
