    OCAD: Indigenous and Racialized Cluster Hire of 3 Tenure-Track Positions

    OCAD University (OCAD U) acknowledges the ancestral and traditional territories of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinaabe and the Huron-Wendat, who are the original owners and custodians of the land on which we gather and create.

    OCAD University invites applicants to three (3) Tenure-Track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Faculty of Art, with a focus on one (1) or more of the below four (4) areas. To address OCAD U’s historical under-representation, this position is open only to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous to Turtle Island and/or as racialized peoples, which includes individuals who identify as Black of African descent, as well as individuals who identify as of South Asian, Southeast Asian, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, and Korean descent, and  individuals who identify as of non-white Arab, North African, and West Asian descent as well as non-white Latin American descent (this list reflects the Statistics Canada categories of ‘visible minority’ groups, as defined for federal employment equity purposes).This initiative is a special program under the Ontario Human Rights Code.

    The Faculty of Art offers a broad range of programs including: Drawing and Painting; Integrated Media; Criticism and Curatorial Practice; Sculpture and Installation; Photography; Print Publications and Experimental Animation. The Faculty also offers a number innovative minors and specializations. The Faculty of Art is committed to interdisciplinary practice and these positions will be expected to contribute their home programs as well as our cross-disciplinary courses and [COLOR=var(--clrSquiggleHighlightTextColor, #000000)]where appropriate, to our Indigenous Visual Cultures program. Ideally, the successful applicants will be able to teach at all undergraduate levels as well as contribute teaching and supervision to our graduate studies program in Interdisciplinary Arts, Media and Design. The positions have a strong research potential as Tenure-Track positions and the successful candidates will have active exhibition/screening/performance records. Candidates should also demonstrate an aptitude for working within an interdisciplinary arts environment in alignment with OCADU’s Vision and Mission statements.


    The Faculty of Art seeks candidates who can demonstrate how their lived experiences inform their work and whose theoretical, technical, and creative practice/research expertise provide offerings that meet one or more of the current areas of need within the Faculty.
