Assistant Professor, Babs Asper Chair in Jazz Performance
Job Description
The Desautels Faculty of Music at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in jazz trumpet performance. The successful candidate will also hold the Babs Asper Chair in Jazz Performance. The appointment will begin on 1 July 2022 or as soon thereafter as possible.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate jazz trumpet students, concomitant masterclass and jazz ensemble coaching, and undergraduate jazz history courses. Other courses may be assigned depending upon the successful candidate’s secondary expertise. Further, the successful candidate will maintain an active research and/or creative work program; and engage in a range of institutional, professional, and community service.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold, at minimum, a master’s degree in music. Commensurate professional experience may also be considered. He/she/they will have outstanding record as a jazz performer and demonstrated success in teaching and inspiring jazz students at the post-secondary level.
Salary
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
