The Department of Music in the Faculty of Media, Art and Performance (MAP) at the University of Regina, invites applications for a one-year term position (with possibility of renewal) in Piano Performance, to commence August 15, 2022. The successful candidate must hold a PhD, DMA or equivalent professional experience, as well as a successful track record of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

The Department of Music is a flexible, responsive, and dynamic team of performers and scholars, housed within the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance. Faculty members are committed to fostering community engagement and collaboration with the variety of professional and community organizations that make up the active music scene and vibrant cultural environment of the City of Regina and Province of Saskatchewan.

The successful candidate should have a history of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and an active record as a performer of solo and chamber repertoire for piano. We are seeking an individual with a strong research program and professional experience as a performer in music.


Demonstrated success in teaching applied piano and related piano performance courses is required (such as pedagogy, collaborative piano, techniques, repertoire, and performance workshops). Proven success in solo and collaborative piano performance and its continuation within and outside the university setting, is also expected. The successful candidate will also have demonstrated success in teaching to diverse students and creating an inclusive studio.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching applied piano and piano-related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Music Department and the Faculty of MAP. Specific teaching responsibilities may also be assigned according to the needs of the Department and/or Faculty and in consideration of the background and abilities of the candidate.

The successful candidate will: help recruit, advise, and retain students; supervise graduate and undergraduate student work; serve on department, faculty, and university committees; participate in Faculty, university, and community life; and establish and maintain a local and national reputation and network as a piano performer. Moreover, the successful candidate will engage community partners and stakeholders, such as local and provincial piano studios. Knowledge of, and experience with, the Regina and southern Saskatchewan vocal community is a definite asset.

For a candidate to be successful in this recruitment, they should hold a PhD, DMA, – OR – alternatively, provide details outlining their equivalent professional experience. The candidate should also have a successful track record of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
