The Dean of the Faculty of Culture + Community oversees and is responsible for the University’s Foundation Program, Critical Studies courses focused on the theory and histories of art, media, and design, the Critical and Cultural Practice major, and the Social Practice minor. These courses and programs aim to build social awareness and sustainability through creative practice, research, and communication. The Dean reports to the Vice-President, Academic + Provost and is responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the respective Faculty at Emily Carr University, ensuring a balance of strategic vision, community leadership, academic integrity and accountability, and administrative leadership. The Dean develops and enhances a culture of collegiality and engagement, through consultation, collaboration, and leadership.
