The AVP Research + Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies is responsible for strategic partnerships, and the development, growth, and leadership of, applied research and research creation at Emily Carr University of Art + Design (ECU), and Graduate Studies programs. The AVP+ Dean provides leadership in building a vision and culture for Graduate studies and for the development and support of innovative practice-based research. It is intended that these endeavors are integrated, to ensure the successful recruitment and retention of students across Emily Carr University’s Graduate programs. The AVP + Dean also facilitates inter-Faculty collaboration in the maintenance and assurance of quality in Graduate programs, and in the building of future Graduate programs.


The AVP + Dean is responsible for developing and maintaining external partnerships with industry, government agencies, funding agencies, and other universities. This position also serves as a member of the Senior Executive Team.

TERM
The term of a Dean appointment is three to five years, subject to satisfactory performance, and is renewable upon conclusion of the term.
